AGRIMONY

Agrimony stimulates the flow of digestive juices, facilitates liver secretions, prevents diabetes and is an excellent blood cleanser. Agrimony also counters indigestion, diarrhea, intestinal disorders, mucous colitis and appendicitis. It is also is beneficial for inflammation of the throat and mouth, tonsillitis, throat disorders and oral thrush. Agrimony can also be gargled to counter any throat infections.


Barberry is well known to fight off bacterial infection and fungal growth by stimulating white blood cells. Also barberry has the ability to ease inflammation and infection of the urinary (bladder and urinary tract infections), gastrointestinal, and respiratory tracts (sore throat, nasal congestion, sinusitis, bronchitis) as well as candida (yeast) infections of the skin or vagina.

BEARBERRY

Bearberry also known as uva ursi is an effective herb against infections of the bladder, urethra and kidney. It is used to not only kill infective organisms, but also soothes inflammation and strengthens the tissue in these areas. Bearberry is also used to relieve the pain of urinary tract infections such as pyelitis, cystitis and urethritis.

BEDSTRAW

Bedstraw is renowned for its use for kidney disorders, thyroid gland complaints and for the lymphatic system. Bedstraw can also be used externally for skin complaints such as psoriasis, arthritis and eczema.

BIRCH

Birch is renowned for its use for rheumatism, cystitis, gout, arthritic pain and as a reliable solvent of stones in the kidneys. Birch can also be used externally for promoting hair growth and for skin complaints such as acne and eczema.

CALENDULA

Calendula is a valuable herb for digestive inflammations and complaints such as gastric and duodenal ulcers. Calendula is helpful for treating fungal infections, and is also used to treat skin diseases and delayed menstruation. Externally calendula promotes healing of slow healing wounds, skin ulcers, varicose veins, inflammation of the skin, external bleeding, minor burns and scalds.

CATS CLAW

Cats claw has many therapeutic applications including benefits for arthritis, allergies, menstrual irregularities, ulcers and a variety of gastrointestinal disorders. Some recent studies have found that cats claw can also boost the immune system. Making it a useful herb for Crohn's disease, gastric ulcers and tumors.

CHAMOMILE

Chamomile is regarded as a great all round herb. It will calm anxiety and relax tension, both physical and emotional. It is also helpful for flatulence, diarrhea, stomach disorders and gastritis, insomnia and toothache. Chamomile is also an excellent herb for teething babies or when they have ear infections, cramps or stomach aches.

DANDELION

Dandelion can be used to assist skin conditions such as acne and eczema, as well as itchy or scaly rashes. It also stimulates appetite, and the flow of bile and works as a diuretic. Dandelion is beneficial for liver and gallbladder disorders and digestive complaints. It can also be used in managing weight problems and distributing cholesterol.

DEVILS CLAW

Devils claw roots has been used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation, and to stimulate digestion. As devils claw has anti inflammatory qualities, it has been claimed to be useful in treating arthritis, kidney disorders, lumbago, gout, menopausal symptoms, diabetes, headaches and heartburn.

DONG QUAI

Dong quai like lady's mantle is a great herb for easing symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and heavy menstrual bleeding. As well as helping balance female hormones dong quai is also rich in iron, magnesium and niacin, which makes it an excellent blood stimulant.

ECHINACEA

Echinacea must be one of the most popular, and most used herb. It is most useful in stimulating the immune system, helping the body to rid itself of infections of all sorts, including fungal, viral and those caused by micro organisms. Effectively echinacea increases the body,s defenses helping them to work more efficiently.

EPILOBIUM

Epilobium is the most effective herb for treating prostate condition disorders, with no side effects. It is also a herb with exceptional long term therapeutic effects.

FEVERFEW

Feverfew has been associated with promoting restful sleep, relief from asthma attacks and improving digestion. By far its most noted use is effectiveness in relieving and preventing migraines. Probably due to a combination of active constituents of the herb, which are both anti-histamine and anti- inflammatory.

GINSENG

Ginseng has many uses including its ability to help people deal with physical and/or emotional stress. It can improve your mental performance and help to lift depression and fight off infections. It has also been known to improve your vitality and sex drive for both women and men. It has also been shown in studies to regulate the immune system and can assist in the prevention of colds and flues. In case studies it has also been effective in lowering sugar content in the blood and lowering cholesterol levels. CAUTION Ginseng should not be taken by pregnant or breastfeeding women. Also ginseng should not be taken when you have an acute infection such as a cold.(although it is used to prevent colds).

GREEN

The Chinese have known about the medicinal benefits of green tea since ancient times, using it to treat everything from headaches to depression. The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: Researchers recently concluded that a compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells. There is also research indicating that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improving the ratio of good (HDL) cholesterol to bad (LDL) cholesterol. As well as its known benefits it is claimed that green tea can also be beneficial in cognitive function, weight control, kidney stones and can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. A must have tea with multiple benefits.

HAWTHORN

Hawthorn is renowned for use in most cardiac and circulatory disorders. It is well known to improve coronary artery blood flow and improve blood flow too the extremities. Many of the active constituents found in Hawthorn exhibit potent antioxidant properties. Hawthorn is also helpful for high blood pressure, hypertension and angina. CAUTION With serious conditions such as angina, heart failure and high blood pressure, it is wise to seek medical advice when mixing medication and herbs. Please seek advise from your doctor or herbalist or both.

HOREHOUND

Horehound can be used to treat many ailments. Used externally horehound may be used to treat a range of skin conditions. Taken internally horehound soothes a cough and is good for bronchial problems. Horehound also promotes sweating, and therefore helps to reduce fever. It also stimulates the flow and secretion of bile from the gallbladder, thereby aiding digestion.

HORNY GOAT

Horny goat weed has been used in Chinese medicine for generations. It is said to increase libido in men and women, and improves erectile function in men. Although researches are unsure how this herb works, the plant has long been employed to restore sexual fire, boost erectile function, alleviate menopausal discomfort and allay fatigue.

HYSSOP

Hyssop has been used for many ailments due to its volatile oil content, which helps to kill off infections. As well as being beneficial for regulating blood pressure, circulatory problems, epilepsy and gout. It has also been used to combat weight problems, bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma.

LADY'S MANTLE

Lady's mantle is a well known herb for strengthening the uterus in women who are likely to miscarry. It also helps to control heavy menstrual bleeding. As a tea it is a tonic to the womb and associated tissues so that problems with painful or heavy periods and the changes that come with menopause are eased.

LEMON BALM

As well as being the sweetest tasting herb Lemon Balm is also a great herb for stress. It is particularly good for indigestion where anxiety and tension play a part. As well as stimulating circulation making it a good herb to calm tension it can also be used for problems such as irritable bowel and stomach ulcers.

MYRTLE

Myrtle has many uses including easing flatulence and promoting the flow of mucus from the bronchi and nasal passages, helping to get rid of colds and chest complaints. The oil in myrtle also is anti-inflammatory making it ideal for easing rheumatic and arthritic pain.

NETTLE

Stinging nettle is used as an excellent blood cleanser. It also has anti - inflammatory agents. It is used widely throughout the world and because of its high content of calcium, magnesium, iron sodium, potassium and vitamins it is recommended as a blood cleanser and is used too treat many blood disorders.

OAK BARK

Oak bark has been used to reduce fever and is also effective in countering diarrhoe. It has also been found to be helpful in stopping internal bleeding making it an ideal herb for nosebleeds. Oakbark can also be used externally for skin irritations, also as a mouthwash for sore throats and gums.

OAT STRAW

Oat straw is an effective remedy for gastrointestinal inflammations, exhaustion and fevers. It is also effective for problems effecting your bladder, ureters and kidneys. It can also be used for herpes infections, liver ailments, kidney problems shingles and lumbago.

OOLONG

Oolong is the most popular tea drank in china today. As well as being known to help in weight management, oolong tea has many other benefits. Oolong tea contains a large quantity of polyphenol. According to research, it has become clear that polyphenol is the ingredient that generates the unique flavor to oolong tea and also promotes beauty and well being. Oolong tea is made in a semi-fermented process, it includes a wide variety of polyphenolic compounds and these different nutrients are probably integrated to bring great benefits to our bodies. For example, they are effective in reducing triglyceride and removing free radicals.

OREGON GRAPE

Oregon Grape as well as goldenseal and barberry is a powerful herb that will fight off bacterial infection and fungal growth. It is also said to purify the blood and cleanse the liver, and is also beneficial for many skin conditions from acne to psoriasis.

PASSION FLOWER

Passion flower is a great calming herb. It is used mostly for anxiety, insomnia and nervous gastrointestinal conditions. In any condition that involve muscular spasm such as asthma and knotted muscles passion flower can be useful.

PEPPERMINT

The leaves and stem of the peppermint herb have a high oil content and is the part of the plant used medicinally. Peppermint is used for many ailments including heart burn, nausea, motion sickness, cold or influenza, tension headaches and flatulence. Peppermint helps the flow of digestive juices, and can also be used to aid bowel problems such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

PLANTAIN

Plantain is a gentle but powerful astringent, helping to dry up catarrhal and restore tone to congested mucous membranes. Making it an effective herb for any catarrhal complaints such as bronchitis, asthma, coughs, and whooping cough.

ROSEMARY

Rosemary has many medicinal qualities. It is used for many ailments including digestive problems, muscle pain, rheumatism, flatulence, and gastrointestinal upsets. It also stimulates liver function and is excellent treatment to prevent hair loss and premature baldness. CAUTION because of its stimulating nature Rosemary is not appropriate for people with high blood pressure.

SHEPHERD'S PURSE

Shepherd's purse is a beneficial herb used for any bleeding conditions. It also has a regulating effect on heart function and on high or low blood pressure. It can also be a useful herb for treatment for chronic diarrhea and dysentery.

STEVIA LEAF

Stevia is a fantastic substitute for sugar. It has many advantages over saccharine such as being non toxic, sweeter than saccharine, does not need any processing, cheap and very healthy.

ST JOHN'S WORT

St john's wort is widely recognized for treatment for mild depression and anxiety, with no side effects. The major active ingredients in St john's wort include hypericin and other dianthrones, flavonoids, xanthones, and hyperforin. CAUTION St john's wort should not be used in conjunction with various other prescription medicines. Please consult with your health professional or herbalist or both before using St john's wort as a supplement.

THYME

Thyme promotes the flow of mucus making it an excellent herb for bronchitis, whooping cough, asthma, pneumonia and any inflammation of the throat and nasal passages. It has been used for many years to aid digestion and can be taken many ways such as tea, mouthwash, applied as an ointment, or inhaled as an essential oil. Also because of Thyme's antiseptic qualities, it is also useful for all kinds of infections, whether it be fungal, viral or bacterial.

VALERIAN

Valerian herb has been used to aid in sleep disorders, restlessness, anxiety and as a muscle relaxer. As well as a popular herb for insomnia it has also been said to be useful for stomach ailments such as IBD, although there have been no long term studies in regards to its effectiveness.

WALNUT LEAF

Walnut leaf is used for treatment of many skin disorders, including dandruff, hair loss, acne, eczema and also itching from dandruff. Walnut leaf can be dried and used as a tea and can also be applied directly to the skin.

WHITE PEONY

There are many types of white tea available including Silver Needle, White Peony, Tribute Eyebrow, Noble, Long Life Eyebrow. White tea has a high anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-collagenase, and anti-elastase properties which could potentially reduce the risks of developing rheumatoid arthritis, some cancers, heart disease & slow the enzymatic break down of elastin and collagen (ie wrinkles or sagging) which accompany aging. The difference in white tea is due to the lack of processing. Also studies have found the larger quantities of Catechin, gallic acid and theobromine

WHITE WILLOW

White willow bark being both rich in salicin and tannins make this a useful herb for digestion. It is a valuable anti- inflammatory and also reduces fevers, eases headaches, and helps with the symptoms of rheumatism and arthritis. White willow helps to thin the blood making it a useful preventative for those at risk of blood clots. CAUTION If you are taking anticoagulant drugs, consult your doctor / herbalist before taking White willow.

YARROW

Yarrow is used to counter diarrhea and dysentery and to relieve intestinal troubles. The ingredients in yarrow promote blood coagulate and also regulates menstrual periods and acts as a diuretic to aid the function of the liver, gallbladder and kidneys.
